Mold Remediation Cost: A Real Price Breakdown

This is a subtitle for your new post

Mold remediation pricing varies more than almost any service in this industry, and it's not because of guesswork — different mold problems genuinely require different fixes. Here's what each one actually costs.

If you've searched for mold remediation costs, you've probably seen wildly different numbers with no explanation of why. That's because mold remediation isn't a single service with one price. It's a combination of specific treatments chosen based on how severe the problem is and what surfaces are affected. Here's a real breakdown.

Spray and Wipe with Disinfectant — $2.00 per square foot

This is the right approach for surface mold on wood that hasn't penetrated into the material. A professional-grade disinfectant is applied and the surface is wiped clean, killing the mold without needing to remove any material. This works well for early-stage or surface-level mold growth on framing, joists, or subfloor.

Antifungal Coating — $2.00 to $3.00 per square foot

After cleaning, wood surfaces are often coated with an antifungal paint (we use Foster's 40-25) to prevent mold from returning. The price varies based on how accessible the area is — spaces where a paint sprayer can be used efficiently cost less than tight or obstructed areas that require more hands-on application.

Wall Demolition — $8.00 to $10.00 per linear foot

When mold has penetrated into drywall, insulation, or other porous materials, cleaning the surface isn't enough — the contaminated material has to be removed entirely. This is priced per linear foot of wall and is the right call when mold has spread beneath the surface rather than just sitting on top of it.

HEPA Air Scrubbers — $150 per day, per scrubber

During remediation, HEPA air scrubbers run continuously to capture airborne mold spores and prevent them from spreading to unaffected areas of your home. The number of scrubbers needed and how many days they run depends on the size of the affected area and the scope of the job.

Why Most Jobs Combine Multiple Methods

Very few mold remediation projects involve just one of these treatments. A typical job might include air scrubbers running throughout, spray-and-wipe treatment on surface mold, an antifungal coating to prevent regrowth, and demolition limited to only the areas where mold has actually penetrated the material. The final price reflects exactly what your specific situation requires, not a one-size-fits-all package.

Get a Real Assessment, Not a Guess

Del-Val Basement Waterproofing follows IICRC S520 guidelines for mold remediation, and every inspection starts with a visual assessment, free of charge, to determine exactly what your home needs. If testing is needed to confirm the extent of the problem, we offer that too. Because we're a waterproofing company first, we also address the moisture or humidity problem causing the mold, not just the mold itself, so it doesn't come back.raph
